Symstream’s technology allows the transmission of data across
cellular mobile telephone networks via a unique data transmission
method that is secure and reliable. At its core, the design uses
a patented communications protocol that converts data into audio in a compressed and efficient manner.
Unlike packet-switched technologies, this enables data to be cost-effectively sent over the
voice network with virtually 100% reliability and security.
The public mobile networks offer network coverage often comparable to satellite, while providing the benefits of cost effectiveness and anytime, anywhere, around the clock availability.
Data is transferred from the wireless terminal which sits inside each remote device to a server-based switch/gateway which is part of the Symstream Solution (called a CelXchange) that provides the two-way connection to the host computer via the wireless network to the CelXchange. The CelXchange connects to the wireless network through an ISDN line (or similar) to the Gateway Mobile Switching Centre and to one or more host servers, as determined by the client. This connection to the customers host servers is either through a private network or the public internet, depending on the particular installation. It is possible to pass sensitive data to the host server as all traffic between the CelXchange and the host is encrypted just as traffic through the wireless network is encrypted using data over voice, GPRS or 3G. This protocol is used over and above these different channels depending on the nature of the host and the remote devices and could be transparent IP or a similar communications protocol or an optimised protocol for the client’s application.
The company’s technology solutions are built from component products including a range of wireless terminals and modems, intelligent embedded processor modules, infrastructure gateways, servers and switching equipment (the CelXchange) and our browser-based, end-to-end, Souran Network Management System (NMS) for equipment control and monitoring and visibility for the client of their entire data transaction process.
