The CelXchange - Next Generation of Symstream’s Gateway Product

Melbourne, June 8 2010 – Symstream's R&D team proudly announce that the next generation of gateway platform, the CelXchange has achieved the design release milestone. The CelXchange replaces Symstream’s previous gateway product, the Symstream Transaction Event Processor (STEP), although customers with existing STEPs can upgrade to CelXchange with only a software upgrade.

The CelXchange platform is the next generation of gateway product that forms the heart of the Symstream communication network, providing the link between remote devices and client hosts. This release gives the customer increased levels of security and reliability, as well as adding support for new wireless terminal types and new applications such as Point-of-Sale (POS) and Automated Meter Reading (AMR).

Like the previous gateway product, the CelXchange utilises Symstream’s patented Data Over Voice communication protocol for data transmission over the GSM wireless voice channel for high priority transactions, ensuring low latency and high reliability/Quality of Service. But in addition, the new release adds support for the use of GSM packet data channels, such as GPRS or 3G, for high volume data transfer or non time-critical applications. A key feature of this release is enhanced security: all data connections through the CelXchange are encrypted end-to-end using state of the art encryption standards. Other new features include automatic network condition detection for optimal reliability and throughput; application multiplexing through a single connection with high value data prioritization, ensuring the most important information arrives first; and improved optimization and compression for financial transactions.
